Scald Protection

Fitting ant-scald devices is a regulatory requirement in hospitals, care homes, schools and nurseries and is considered best practice in a range of other applications including accessible washrooms.

Anti-scald devices include Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV's) and various types of temperature controlled taps.

Scald protection should only fitted where a comparative assessment of scalding outweighs the inherent increased legionella risk associated with the device.

Scald protection that do not meet this criteria should be removed.

Ideally TMV's should be incorporated directly in the tap fitting.

Scald protection devices require regular checking, periodic maintenance and adjustment.

Watertec supplies and fits a range of WRAS approved anti-scald devices together with routine testing and maintenance.
