Legionella Control for Schools & Nurseries

Nurseries, schools and other educational establishments are required to have a written control scheme and legionella assessment to comply with the requirements of:

  • ACoP L8 and the associated guidance set out in HSG274 Part 2

By their very nature, nurseries and schools have vulnerable young persons in attendance and it is essential for service providers to respect all of the control measures required by the client to ensure the safety and security of the building population.

Key factors for legionella control include:

  • Seasonal building use
  • The correct installation and operation of tank fed systems
  • Effective temperature control
  • The identification and frequent flushing of low use outlets
  • The installation and operation of scald protection devices
  • Effective showerhead cleaning and disinfection

Watertec has provided legionella control services to more than 100 schools and nurseries in recent years throughout the UK and Ireland.
